Challenge the Fabric is a two-day cross-industry initiative aiming to highlight material innovation, foster collaboration, and create change, by connecting the entire supply chain of man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCF). Discover previous editions below.

CTF 2025 Milan

CTF returned for its fifth edition, on May 13th-14th in Milan – continued its mission to unite and strengthen the MMCF supply chain through meaningful collaboration and dialogue.

CTF 2024 Milan

The fourth edition of CTF took place from the 14th until the 15th of May 2024, returning to Centro Congressi Fondazione Cariplo in Milan. With a focus on sustainability, traceability, and material innovation, CTF 2024 will also reintroduce the CTF Award, a talent competition challenging designers to create looks made from MMCF fabrics, as a way to promote and encourage a switch to biobased and/or recycled materials.

CTF 2023 Milan

The third edition of CTF took place from the 9th until the 10th of May 2023, at Fondazione Cariplo in Milan. With a focus on sustainability, traceability, and material innovation CTF 2023 took place as a full-day symposium with inspiring keynotes and panel discussions focusing on themes such as sustainable forestry; legislation, policies and traceability; the future of fashion and next generation solutions; and the industry's path forward.

CTF 2022 Paris

At the Challenge the Fabric symposium in Paris on May 17 at Institut Suédois, barriers to growth and possibilities for collective actions within fashion, textile and forest industries was identified.

CTF 2018 London

For the first Challenge the Fabric Award, ten nominated designers were challenged to create looks made from MMCF fabric, with the final being held September 13, 2018, at London Fashion Week. Six finalists presented their collections at the CTF Award Show and represented some of the most prestigious and best ranked design schools around the world.
